Learn from English teacher - If it's possible you should try to learn from as many different teachers as possible, but at the very least find one English teacher and learn what you can from that person How to learn languages when you are a hard-working person In contrast to the four tasks that I assign to the hard-working learner and those were, of course, to be much more goal-oriented, more deliberate. You know, set weekly goals and stick to them. Don’t miss a day in your language learning; whereas, the lazy guy can go for a couple of days and not do it. Write – I’m too lazy to write. I’m working on my Italian, my Portuguese and my Russian, having fun with it, listening, enjoying, I don’t write. If I wrote I would do a lot better. I’m too lazy to write, but for the hard-working person – write. Then I say connect with a tutor, because a tutor will get you working harder. Even once a week, twice a week, via Skype, nowadays you can do it. You don’t have to get in a car and go anywhere or take a bus. So for the hard-working person, get yourself a tutor. And for the hard-working person, review your words and phrases, whether it be in flashcards or off lists. I don’t do it that often, because I’m a lazy learner. I prefer to listen. So that was my advice. Perhaps you have lived overseas for number of years, and have decided that it is time to broaden your horizons and further your career. Moving to New Zealand to learn English might just be the ticket you need to achieve your ambitions. New Zealand has appealed to many in the past as a country that offers a magnificent quality of living. Coming from over-crowded cities where the air isn't very clean, means that moving to a city like Christchurch - the "Garden City" - to launch the next phase of life can be made an easy decision. Learning English as a second language is hugely valuable. Having knowledge of two languages means you can pick up a quality paying job that involves interaction with people from both languages. Learning English means you have a number of other English-speaking countries to choose from to reside, whether it be temporarily or permanently. Or you might decide that living in New Zealand is everything you could ever need. Not only are there world class institutes that enable you to learn English, there are also a number of other factors that are sure to appeal to you. For instance, Christchurch is full of friendly people and a lifestyle that people in most other parts of New Zealand envy. It is the only city in New Zealand that enables you to be studying in the morning, skiing or swimming at the beach in the afternoon and then dining out with friends in the evening. This is all due to its central location, with Mt Hutt a pleasant, scenic drive from the city, beaches like Sumner and New Brighton minutes away from the city and plenty of swimming pools both indoor and outdoor dotted around the city and suburbs. Another great feature of Christchurch is the ease in which you can access so many amenities and activities within walking distance no matter where you are. You can easily access the Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens, a variety of cafes, restaurants, shops and accommodation establishments within a 20 minute walk of each other. Additionally it has an international gateway which makes travelling to and from your home country easier and more accessible for friends and family to visit. Before you decide to learn English in New Zealand, arrange accommodation that you feel would be most logical and appropriate for your requirements. You could opt to live in an apartment or rental property with a friend for instance, or decide to branch out and stay with New Zealanders. This provides a great opportunity to pick up the English language a lot quicker, learn some of the local terminology and immerse yourself in the local culture. Wherever you choose to stay, New Zealander's are great hosts who will make your transition from overseas so much easier.
